Scarf Island


Scarf Island (50˚09'00" 127˚40'00" Entrance to Nasparti Inlet, Checleset Bay, NW side of Vancouver I). Named after Oscar Scarf (1864–1949), born at Victoria, who entered the sealing trade as a hunter aboard the Pathfinder in 1887. He later became capt and part owner of the Enterprise and is listed in the 1901 BC census as mate of the towboat Pilot. In 1907, the year he married Martha Elizabeth Harris, Scarf towed the largest log boom ever seen to that time from Port San Juan into Victoria...
