Sargeaunt Passage


Sargeaunt Passage (50˚41'00" 126˚11'00" Between Viscount I and the mainland, off SE Gilford I, NW side of Knight Inlet). RN officer Frederic Anthony Sargeaunt (1840–98) served on the Pacific Station, 1868–71, as 1st lt of HMS Charybdis, under Capt Algernon Lyons. He was promoted to cdr in 1871 and stationed at Folkestone with the Coast Guard, then served as cdr of the Clyde, an RNVR drill ship based at Aberdeen. Sargeant reached the rank of capt in 1886.
