Sabiston Island


Sabiston Island (52˚13'00" 128˚06'00" S entrance to Troup Passage, Seaforth Channel, just N of Bella Bella). This feature was formerly known as Haddon I, after Oak Bay resident and RCN paymaster Lt Gerald Philip Haddon (1885–1926), and then as Gray I. It was renamed in 1924 by the hydrographic service after John Flett Sabiston (1828–1902), a seaman and native of the Orkney Is, who came to Victoria in 1850 as a labourer on the HBC supply ship Norman Morison.
