Price Island

Price Island (52˚24'00" 128˚42'00" Between Laredo Sd and Milbanke Sd, NW of Bella Bella). Capt John Adolphus Pope Price (d 1874) served on the Pacific Station, 1865–68, as capt of HMS Scout. He entered the RN in 1829, was present at the 1840 siege of Acre and participated in the Crimean War as 1st lt of HMS Nile. In 1869, Price was appointed commodore and senior officer at Hong Kong, with his pennant on HMS Princess Charlotte. He retired from the RN in 1870. Named by Lt Daniel Pender,...
