Preedy Harbour


Preedy Harbour (48˚59'00" 123˚41'00" Off SW side of Thetis I, NW of Saltspring I, Gulf Is). Lt George William Preedy (1817–94) served in HMS Constance, under Capt Richard Courtenay, on the Pacific Station, 1846–49. He entered the RN in 1828 and was promoted to capt in 1855. Preedy was made a CB in 1858, when he was capt of HMS Agamemnon, after helping lay the first trans-Atlantic telegraph cable, which only worked for a couple of weeks.
