Pollard Cove


Pollard Cove (48˚46'00" 123˚16'00" E side of N Pender I, Gulf Is). Elijah Pollard (1875–1963) came to S Pender I from England in 1894 and with a partner, Arthur Stanford, made a near-disastrous prospecting trip to Bella Coola, where the intrepid duo were forced to eat their packhorse. He and Stanford both took up land on S Pender in 1895 and farmed. Pollard became foreman of road construction on the island and was active in public affairs.
