Patrol Island

Patrol Island (48˚42'00" 123˚25'00" Off N end of Saanich Peninsula and SW side of Piers I, N of Victoria). Formerly known as Spit I but renamed in 1933. Adjacent Piers I (qv) had been expropriated by federal authorities in 1932 for use as a special prison camp for Doukhobor inmates. Prison guards apparently used this tiny island as a station for patrolling the camp.
