Patey Rock


Patey Rock (48˚42'00" 123˚31'00" In Satellite Channel at mouth of Saanich Inlet, S of Saltspring I, NW of Victoria). RN officer George Edwin Patey (d 1862) served on the Pacific Station, 1854–57, as capt of HMS Monarch, the 84-gun flagship of Rear Adm Henry Bruce. He had been appointed a lt in 1840 and a capt in 1851; after his Pacific posting he had several commands in the Mediterranean and with the British Coast Guard.
