Oldham Rock

Oldham Rock (52˚26'00" 128˚58'00" S of Aristazabal I). Named for Sapper William Oldham, a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC 1858–63. He was a printer and worked with the primitive lithographic press, the first in BC, that the engineers brought with them to Sapperton. Little else is known about him other than the fact that he wanted to purchase the press and its related equipment when the detachment disbanded in 1863.
