Ness Islands


Ness Islands (53˚52'00" 130˚34'00" In Kitkatla Inlet, Porcher I, SW of Prince Rupert), Ness Rock (52˚51'00" 129˚44'00" SW end of Aranzazu Banks, Caamaño Sd, NW of Aristazabal I). The Ness brothers, of Norwegian heritage, were fishermen and boatbuilders in the Porcher I area. Andrew Cornelius Ness (1888–1965) pre-empted the middle (and largest) of the Ness Is in 1922 and received a Crown grant in 1927. He married Louise A Beniteau at Prince Rupert in 1924.
