Nelles Island


Nelles Island (52˚01'00" 128˚16'00" Part of the Admiral Group, Queens Sd, SW of Bella Bella). Adm Percy Walker Nelles, CB (1892–1951), was Canada’s senior naval officer during WWII. Born at Brantford, Ont, he started his career in 1908 as a cadet on a fisheries protection vessel. He became a lt in 1914 and served as flag lt to the director of naval services in 1917.
