Murchison Island (52˚36'00" 131˚23'00" SE of Lyell I, E of Moresby I, QCI). Sir Roderick Imprey Murchison (1792–1871) was born in Scotland and first pursued a career in the British Army, seeing action in Spain in 1809 before resigning six years later and getting married.
