Moutcha Bay


Moutcha Bay (49˚47'00" 126˚27'00" E side of head of Tlupana Inlet, Nootka Sd, W side of Vancouver I). Named after the Mowachaht/Muchalaht First Nation reserve at the head of this bay. At the time of first European contact, this was the site of a Nuu-chah-nulth winter village (often spelled Mooacha), said to be home to Tlupana, a Mowachaht chief second in importance only to Maquinna.
