Morpheus Island


Morpheus Island (49˚09'00" 125˚53'00" NE entrance to Browning Passage, just E of Tofino, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). This island served as Tofino’s first cemetery, 1900–1950, and before that it may have been a Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation burial ground. Many of Tofino’s early settlers were buried there until a graveyard was selected closer to Tofino in the late 1940s.
