Mitlenatch Island


Mitlenatch Island (49˚57'00" 125˚00'00" N end of the Str of Georgia, just SE of Campbell R). The word is a corruption of a Sliammon First Nation name, Métl’nech, meaning “calm at the end” or “calm back end,” which probably refers to sheltered areas at either end of the island.
