Miskatla Inlet


Miskatla Inlet (53˚49'00" 128˚56'00" Extends N from Gilttoyees Inlet, NW side of Douglas Channel, S of Kitimat). Miskatla or Mesgatli (Misgatlee) is the Haisla First Nation name for Foch Lagoon. According to former UBC anthropologist Jay Powell, the name was somehow mistakenly applied in the 1920s to this inlet, which the Haisla people know as Kiyasa.
