Mikuni Point


Mikuni Point (48˚49'00" 123˚12'00" NW side of Saturna I, Gulf Is). Named in 1969 for Kisuki or Kisuke Mikuni (c 1860–1910), a Japanese farmer and entrepreneur who lived on Saturna and Tumbo islands in the 1890s. He had been persuaded to come to Canada from Yokohama in 1884 by a Victoria merchant named Charles Gabriel, who made buying trips to Japan to supply his store, the Japanese Bazaar, which sold Asian specialty goods.
