Michael Bank


Michael Bank (53˚03'00" 129˚31'00" E of Prior I, Estevan Group, Estevan Sd, SE of Banks I). Named in 1949 after Jules Leonard Michael (1851–1911), a native of Camberwell, England, who came to Victoria in the 1860s and married Ruth E Ferguson (b 1862), also from England, at Nanaimo in 1880. One record suggests that Michael first arrived in BC as a very young member of the crew of HMS Sparrowhawk in 1865.
