McKenzie Shoal


McKenzie Shoal (53˚13'00" 130˚15'00" Off W side of Banks I, Hecate Str). Named in 1950 for George Charles McKenzie (1776–1828), from Edinburgh, a midshipman aboard HMS Discovery on Capt George Vancouver’s expedition to the BC coast, 1791–95. He was only 16 when he joined up and seems to have been demoted to able seaman for part of the trip, but he was returned to his former rank in 1792.
