McKay Range (53˚44'00" 132˚30'00" NW of Masset Inlet, Graham I, QCI). John W McKay was a timber cruiser from Seattle who had been asked by the American Lumberman, a leading Chicago-based trade periodical, to evaluate the QCI timber holdings of the Graham Steamship, Coal & Lumber Co. He travelled with Graham officials to Masset Inlet in 1907, and the magazine devoted an entire issue to the company’s plans to develop a lumber industry in the area.
