McIntyre Point


McIntyre Point (48˚46'35" 123˚14'35" NW of Razor Point, SE side of N Pender I, Gulf Is). This name was adopted in 2000 for RCNVR leading cook Thomas James McIntyre, from Victoria and Pender I, who was killed in action Apr 16, 1945, aged 32, while serving aboard HMCS Esquimalt. The minesweeper was on routine patrol when it was torpedoed by a U-boat and sank off Halifax Hbr within sight of shore.
