McCurdy Point


McCurdy Point (48˚34'00" 123˚31'00" W side of Squally Reach, Saanich Inlet, NW of Victoria). Named in 1934 after inventor and entrepreneur Arthur William McCurdy (1856–1923), who built a summer home on Malahat Dr overlooking Saanich Inlet. Born at Truro, NS, he moved to Baddeck, where he edited the local newspaper, worked for Alexander Graham Bell and created, among other innovations, an automated, portable, film-developing system that he sold to George Eastman of Kodak.
