McColl Rock


McColl Rock (52˚36'00" 129˚18'00" SE of Moore Is, W of Aristazabal I, Hecate Str). Sgt William McColl (1819–65) was a member of the Columbia detachment of Royal Engineers, which served in BC from 1858 to 1863. He arrived at Esquimalt in Oct 1858 on La Plata with the party of men led by Capt Robert Parsons. McColl’s wife, Ann Baseley (1832–1913), and four children came out on the Marcella in 1860.
