McAlmond Point


McAlmond Point (52˚49'00" 132˚04'00" W side of Newcombe Inlet, Tasu Sd, W side of Moresby I, QCI). Capt Elijah H McAlmond (1827–1913), from Belfast, Maine, came to the W coast of N America about 1850 and worked on sailing vessels out of San Francisco. He settled at Dungeness, Washington, and left the sea for a period, then built the schooner Rebecca in 1861 and operated it in Puget Sd and off Alaska until 1865.
