Marr Island


Marr Island (49˚43'17" 124˚10'40" Blind Bay, S entrance to Jervis Inlet, NW of Vancouver). This name was adopted in 1990 for Petty Officer Telegraphist David Marr of the RCN, who was killed in action June 25, 1940, aged 30, while serving aboard HMCS Fraser. The destroyer sank off the coast of France, with the loss of 45 lives, after a tragic collision with HMS Calcutta while attempting to rescue refugees.
