Markland Point


Markland Point (53˚51'00" 128˚49'00" SW side of Kitimat Arm, N end of Douglas Channel, S of Kitimat). Olive Neata Markland (b 1879), a student at the Univ of Toronto, worked for several years in the early 1900s as a teacher and assistant at the Methodist mission at Kitamaat village (known today as Haisla). She married Blanchard Perley Steeves at Nelson in 1914.
