Margaret Bay


Margaret Bay (51˚20'00" 127˚30'00" E end of Smith Sd, N of Port Hardy). Fisherman John Iverson (1887–1967) bought land on this bay in 1916 in order to comply with a rule that restricted fishing to local homesteaders. His property was purchased later that year by Robert Chambers of Western Packers Ltd, who built a sockeye salmon cannery there that was taken over in 1923 by the Canadian Fishing Co.
