Mannion Bay


Mannion Bay (49˚23'00" 123˚20'00" E side of Bowen I, entrance to Howe Sd, just NW of Vancouver). Joseph Mannion (1839–1918), from Ireland, came to BC in 1862 in search of gold but found work instead with the Collins Overland Telegraph Co. He helped build Burrard Inlet’s Hastings Mill in 1875 and soon owned the Granville Hotel in Gastown and Gladstone Hotel on the trail to New Westminster. He married Sabina Grant in 1881.
