Maltby Islets


Maltby Islets (49˚14'00" 125˚46'00" N end of Fortune Channel, NE of Meares I, Clayoquot Sd, W side of Vancouver I). George Albert Maltby (1867–1963), from Derbyshire, came to the Clayoquot area in 1892 and pre-empted land on Schooner Cove, where he received a Crown grant in 1898. He later acquired Crown land on Cox Bay, planting an orchard and vegetable garden there and raising cattle.
