Macdonald Point (50˚41'00" 125˚44'00" W entrance to Glendale Cove, S side of Knight Inlet). William John Macdonald (1832–1916), a native of Scotland, came to the PNW on the barque Tory as an HBC employee in 1851. A militia capt, he accompanied Gov James Douglas and a large naval force in pursuit of a Cowichan First Nation chief named Tathlasut, who was captured, tried and hanged in front of his tribe in 1856 for shooting a white settler.
