Macdonald Island


Macdonald Island (50˚11'00" 123˚48'00" Princess Louisa Inlet, N end of Jervis Inlet, NE of Powell R). This name was adopted in 1979 after a request by the Princess Louisa International Society, which wished to commemorate James Frederick Macdonald (1889–1978), who was instrumental in preserving part of Princess Louisa Inlet (qv) as a park. “Mac,” as he was familiarly known, was born at Seattle into a family that owned a successful wholesale grocery business.
