Luxana Bay


Luxana Bay (52˚03'00" 131˚03'00" E side of Kunghit I, QCI). This feature was named by Capt Charles Duncan of the Princess Royal, an early British fur trader on the BC coast. Duncan was part of James Colnett’s 1786–88 expedition to the PNW, financed by Richard Etches and the King George’s Sd Co. In 1788 he sailed through Dixon Entrance and Hecate Str, thus proving the insularity of the QCI, which had been suspected by earlier European visitors. His chart of the area named this bay Lux...
