Lay Point


Lay Point (52˚13'00" 128˚10'00" N end of Campbell I, just N of Bella Bella). Named for RN officer J R Lay, who was a lt aboard HMS Egeria. He served under Capt Morris Smyth, 1899–1900, and Cdr Cortland Simpson, 1900–1902. The vessel was involved with survey work in Johnstone Str, 1900–1901. Formerly known as Shelf Point.
