Laura Point


Laura Point (48˚52'00" 123˚18'00" N of Miners Bay, NW side of Mayne I, Gulf Is). From 1858 to 1860, RN hydrographer Capt George Richards named several points in this vicinity after prominent local women of the day. Georgina Point (qv), for instance, commemorates the wife of a senior RN officer on the Pacific Station. Helen Point (qv) is named for the spouse of an HBC chief trader.
