Klunkwoi Bay


Klunkwoi Bay (52˚43'00" 131˚49'00" NW side of Darwin Sd, E side of central Moresby I, QCI), Klunkwoi Rocks (52˚44'00" 131˚48'00" Entrance to Klunkwoi Bay). The name, given by George Mercer Dawson in 1878, is an adaptation of the Haida term for the bay. The town of Lockeport was built on its shores in 1908, and the area became the centre of an intense but short-lived copper-mining boom from 1908 to about 1920. D
