Kitasu Bay


Kitasu Bay (52˚32'00" 128˚45'00" W side of Swindle I, E side of Laredo Sd, NW of Bella Bella). Named for the Kitasoo First Nation, whose members originally lived in the region around this bay. The Kitasoo belong to the Tsimshian linguistic and cultural family. They joined together with the Xai’xais (Xixis, Haihais) people, who are members of the Heiltsuk First Nation and originally occupied the Kynoch Inlet area, to settle at Klemtu (qv) in the 1870s.
