Keefe Island


Keefe Island (50˚20'00" 127˚53'00" N of Mayday I, in Side Bay, N side of Brooks Bay, NW side of Vancouver I). Master mariner Michael Lawrence Keefe (1851–99) came to BC from Harbour Grace, Nfld, about 1887 and was skipper of various Victoria-based sealing schooners, including the Beatrice, Dolphin and Dawn, the latter owned by Victoria merchant and politician Thomas Earle.
