Jones Island


Jones Island (52˚01'00" 128˚16'00" In the Admiral Group, off SW side of Campbell I, SW of Bella Bella). Named in 1944 as one of the Admiral Group for Vice Adm George Clarence “Jetty” Jones, CB (1895–1946). Born at Halifax, he was a first-term cadet at the Royal Naval College of Canada in 1911 and had his first command in the RCN destroyer Patrician in 1920.
