Johnson Islet


Johnson Islet (48˚40'52" 123˚23'45" Off NW side of Fernie I and NE end of Saanich Peninsula, N of Victoria). This feature, incorrectly spelled, was named for Conrad Johnsen (1854–1930), who pre-empted the islet in 1911 and received a Crown grant in 1913. Ownership reverted to the city of Victoria in 1928, presumably because of unpaid taxes. The next owner was Rose May Reid, in 1934, who married a local resident named Copeland.
