Jervis Island


Jervis Island (49˚31'00" 124˚14'00" S side of Sabine Channel, N of Lasqueti I, Str of Georgia). RN officer John Jervis Tucker (1802–86) served on the Pacific Station from 1841 to 1845 as capt of HMS Dublin, flagship of Rear Adm Richard Thomas. He was superintendent of Sheerness dockyard, 1854–57. Tucker retired as a vice adm in 1864 and was promoted to adm, retired, in 1869.
