Jervis Inlet


Jervis Inlet (49˚45'00" 124˚10'00" E of Malaspina Str, NW of Vancouver). Named in 1792 by Capt George Vancouver after RN officer Sir John Jervis (1735–1823), who at that time was a rear adm serving in the W Indies. Jervis was promoted adm in 1795 and became cdr-in-chief of the Mediterranean fleet, 1796–99.
