Janson Island


Janson Island (48˚54'00" 125˚31'00" S of entrance to Ucluelet Inlet, Barkley Sd, W side of Vancouver I). August Janson (1856–1935), who emigrated from Sweden to Canada in 1878, was a storekeeper and homesteader on the E side of Ucluelet Inlet in the early 1890s. He pre-empted the George Fraser Is about 1890. Janson died at N Vancouver.
