James Point (53˚33'00" 129˚36'00" N entrance to Lowe Inlet, Grenville Channel, E of Pitt I). James Lowe (1830–79) was employed by the Bank of Dundee in Scotland before immigrating to the US in 1853 and joining his brother Thomas in San Francisco. Thomas Lowe had worked for years in the PNW for the HBC (see Lowe Inlet), then formed the general merchandising firm Allan, Lowe & Co in San Francisco in 1852; James became a partner in this business.
