Hussan Bay


Hussan Bay (54˚04'00" 132˚34'00" W side of Virago Sd, N end of Graham I, QCI). Hussan is an adaptation of the Haida name for the bay and was applied by geologist George Mercer Dawson in 1878. Go Dang village, site of a Haida miracle legend, was located at the N end of the bay. It was here, while people were sleeping, that a seal impaled itself on a hunter’s spear, thus averting almost certain starvation for a small group of Haida. D
