Hudson Rocks


Hudson Rocks (49˚13'00" 123˚55'00" N of Newcastle I and Nanaimo, off E side of Vancouver I). Named by the hydrographic service in 1944 in honour of those HBC officials who were stationed in this area in the very early days of European colonization. The HBC first built a fortified trading post at Nanaimo in 1849 after the discovery of coal in the area.
