Holt Rock


Holt Rock (52˚16'00" 128˚09'00" Off S side of Yeo I, W entrance to Return Channel, N of Bella Bella). Named in 1924 after Lt Reginald Vesey Holt (b 1884), who served on the BC coast in 1910 aboard HMCS Rainbow, one of two old British cruisers bought by Canada as its first naval vessels. Holt rejoined the RN, becoming capt of the heavy cruiser Shropshire in 1933–34, then senior naval officer on the Yangtze R in China in 1937–38.
