Hilbert Point


Hilbert Point (52˚40'00" 128˚47'00" NW side of Hastings I, just S of Princess Royal I). John Henry Hilbert (1844–1926) was born in Lincolnshire, England, and arrived in 1873 at Nanaimo, where other family members later joined him. His wife, Mary Jane Hilbert (1845–1913), was also born in England. Hilbert worked as a furniture dealer and undertaker, using his carpentry skills to construct caskets as well as the Wellington Methodist church and other local buildings. A model citizen, he...
