High Island


High Island (52˚08'00" 131˚01'00" Off NE side of Kunghit I, QCI). Named by geologist Dr George Dawson in 1878, this kelp-circled island was home to the ancient Haida village of Hlagi. Japanese prospector J Uniaka registered the Copper Coin claim there in 1913. Its actual height is about 180 m.
