Hiellen River


Hiellen River (54˚04'00" 131˚47'00" Flows N into McIntyre Bay, N side of Graham I, QCI). Hiellen is a modification of the Haida name meaning “river by Tow Hill.” A sizable Haida village was situated on the E shore of the mouth of this river, and a clam cannery also operated there, 1923–30. An early store and post office were located on the Hiellen’s E bank. D
