Hicks Island


Hicks Island (52˚46'00" 129˚18'00" Off NW side of Aristazabal I). The background of Thomas Benton Hicks (1831–1927) is a bit vague. He may have served with the US military, been present in the San Juan Is during the territorial dispute between Britain and the US, worked on the Whatcom Trail between Sumas and the Fraser R, and made a living as a miner. He moved to Hope about 1859, operated a mill and later raised cattle and farmed in the Agassiz area, where he became well known as a fruit...
